So what?

Many people have said so what is the big thing about losing weight. And maybe the numbers are not impressive enough. So to give you some perspective, here is a before photo and an after photo. Now if you look at this picture you will believe that anyone can achieve their goal weight through exercise and healthy eating.

Before - Me at 135kg

After

People have asked if there were any pills or supplements I took to achieve this. The truth is it was so painful to try and break away from old habits and to keep yourself motivated to get out of bed and exercise. I have tried all the pills and special diets and none of them has worked for me with this kind of results. The hard part now is to keep going after the competition, to stay focussed and committed. But with the support of my friends and family and all the people out there that congratulated me and still offer kind words, thank you. It really means alot to hear from you and to hear how seeing me do what I did has helped you get into action.

It all starts with the first step. Not a big one, just one small step. To begin somewhere. And everyday keep reminding yourself about why you are doing this. To be healthy. To live a more fulfilling life and to feel better about yourself for yourself. I can't begin to describe how I feel these days. I have so much more energy. So much more vitality that I feel like I am enjoying my life more.

If any of you wish to get hold of me, please feel free to contact me via email or through my agent.

Stay strong and always believe.

Getting back into the swing of things

Ah, another beautiful day in sunny East London. I'm facing a bit of a dilemma today. Im going to cash in on the fantastic special at Hemingways tonight, and must admit I'm feeling nervous about what to eat. Any fat (or formerly fat) person can tell you how difficult it is to go to a restaurant and order healthy food when there are so many delicious and not so good meals at your finger tips. Wish me luck on making the right choice!

The past week has been really busy with interviews and generally trying to get back to some type of normal life. There have been positive and negative comments posted on the Daily Dispatch online site, which has been interesting to say the least, and I've had to really focus not to allow the negative comments affect me personally.

To all that have supported me, wished me well, congratulated me and generally sent positive and inspiring words to me, thank you. Your support and kind acts have made the world of difference to me.

More soon...

The Biggest Winner

Hi everyone

I want to welcome you all to my blogsite. I will definitely try to update this web journal a few times a week with some of my thoughts, pictures and news of my latest news.

It has been a hectic week so far. All of that hard work seems so distant now. And the final show was surreal and having so many people come up to you and congratulate you is really amazing. The competition has been very tough and there were moments when I almost threw in the towel, but I was determined to not just lose the weight but also to win the competition. And let me tell you what you see on TV is not everything that happens. Everyone worked really hard. And for many of us it was a struggle.

A lot of people come up to me and congratulate me on such a fantastic achievement but off course like any success story, there are people who will go out of their way to make you feel bad or knock you down but one thing you can’t do is get caught up in other people’s negative thoughts. I keep reminding myself why I entered the house. And it was for me. I was unhappy and I saw this as a chance to win this battle. And as the competition went on I realized that I stood a good chance of doing well which kept me motivated.

Off course everything is easier in the house where you can concentrate 100% on working out and eating correctly. You have the trainers and the producers and off course the camera on you all the time. So it is easier. The other competitors keep you motivated by also being so committed. It was wonderful seeing how committed and dedicated everyone was and it definitely helped keep me focused.

I will be interviewed by Daron Mann on Radio Algoa’s breakfast show so please tune in. I would like to hear your feedback on my interview.

If there is any information you would like please feel free to leave a message or email me.
